I am an artist based in Hurstpierpoint. I paint in oils predominantly with some acrylics and inks. More recently I’ve been drawn to working in a more abstract form. I use landscapes and seascapes to inform my paintings. I aim to evoke a sense of calm and drawing from nature express my response using essential marks.

It feels like a work in progress, there is so much to learn, develop and apply myself to! It’s always a challenge to try and express how you feel in your own work, what you are trying to say, what line of enquiry you are following! Especially as I am shifting slightly in the way that I am working.

I start by gathering information and images in the form of photographs, and graphite and watercolour sketches. I will then take these back to my studio where I will check which ones sing to me! Which ones do I feel have something about them, which I am drawn to. Then I use these as a reference point and work in oil son a canvas or a board. I will often add graphite or charcoal as I love mark-making!

I’d love to hear what you think, feel about my work. Please feel free to contact me via Instagram, email or what app.
