Claire enjoys living and painting in the South Downs of Sussex. The beautiful landscape incorporating the rolling hills of the Weald and Downland and the seascapes surrounding Brighton and the wider Sussex area are a constant source of inspiration.

The shadows that are cast over the steep escarpments of The South Downs provide wonderful studies of light and dark tones that Claire enjoys painting in her preferred medium of Oils.

Claire mostly works outside ‘plein air’ in oils on small primed boards and later develops the paintings onto stretched canvases in her studio. She enjoys working on large canvases to enable her to develop expansive sky studies.
